Letters from a Stoic – LIX (Kanye West)

The Perfect Man is a Platonic ideal – an image of Perfection unattainable for material substrate – but nonetheless remains the target at the end of our aim. Man stands next to other flawed beasts on a cliff’s edge looking down into the abyss. Across the pond is God, to whom there is no bridge. Many a man has jumped and fell, and many more will. (more…)

The NBA – In Memoriam

America has split itself down the middle, and I see one camp of GS super/semi/bandwagon fans who loved watching them uh, defecate all over the entire NBA this year and speedwalk to a 16-1 record in the playoffs. The other camp despises Durant/GS and thinks this is bad for the NBA. The myth is still being propagated that nobody wants to watch a dynasty demolish the rest of the league, but the ratings are as good as ever and the NBA is thriving. However, as a humongous big fan and former player of the sport, it sucks shit to watch this GS team. Let’s talk about the state of the association.

Silver Linings Playbook: Trumped-Up Edition

With the 1st pick in the 2016 POTUS Draft, the American Americans select Donald John Trump. Folks, this is unlike anything this country has seen before. Remember that film Idiocracy? Neither do I. It is a fairly terrible movie minus Justin Long. Get out your last YAS QUEEN’s and DRAG HIM’s because the horrific straight white male is back to terrorize the land. Donald Trump is going to be president now and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. Is there anything positive here? (more…)

How Did the Cavs Beat the Warriors?

I am still in shock that the Cavaliers won the NBA Finals Sunday night and I am so glad the Warriors are at home, crying in their beer, like they deserve. It was a truly historic comeback because no team had ever come back from a 3-1 deficit, and the Cavs broke that ugly streak. It’s hard to say how exactly the greatest regular season team of all time managed to lose in the Finals, but here’s my important opinion on five deciding factors. (more…)

Does Stability Training Work?

TRX, Bosu and yoga balls, resistance bands, the list goes on. These are all tools used within the broad scope of what we call “fitness,” and they’re predicated on one concept: stability. Or, rather, the lack of stability the user is afforded while using the product. After generating millions and millions of dollars while becoming a staple in the contemporary gym, we have to ask, do they work? Let’s discuss. (more…)

Last Call for a Presidential Candidate

Donald Trump, The Orange Man, is going to represent the Republican party of the United States government. Hillary Clinton, The Human Flip-Flop, will stand as the candidate of the Democratic party. Now I know what you’re thinking, we’re screwed. What if I said we still have a chance? Now that I have your attention: let’s get political. (more…)

Alex Jones and His Beliebers are Mentally Ill

In February I was discussing the primaries with a few coworkers, and one of them told me I should check out Infowars, with an emphasis on Alex Jones. I had never heard of this website or anybody named Alex Jones, so I told her I’d do my homework. When I went home, I typed in Alex Jones on YouTube and was lucky enough that his most recent video was about Trump exposing 9/11. I knew I was in for a treat, but there was no way I could’ve prepared myself for what I was about to see. (more…)
